Mudra for surrender

Udana Mudra

It activates the throat chakra that energizes the head. It brings in the clarity of the mind.  Apart from that this can be helpful for bad throat condition also.

When you are stuck in a problem situation, be in this Mudra and chant the switch words, “CLIMB CRYSTAL TOGETHER DIVINE”.

To sit regularly for a meditation, even though if it is escapism, be in this Mudra, and you will continue to sit for the meditation.

Surrender

It is also called as Mudra for Surrender.

What is meant by surrender?

Surrender is not inaction. Whatever we are doing we have do it.

You are writing with a pen. Suppose the pen gets a life and says, “I am writing so many things”.  Will you accept it? The pen is not supposed to say that and that to you.

Let us say the pen says to you that “I am writing so many things. So many good ideas come to me, when I am writing”. If so, you will break the pen and will go for a new one.

Similarly, surrendering means, the attitude of ownership is relinquished. ‘I am not the doer’ – that attitude should be cultivated. It is the training of the mind. That can be cultivated or trained by being in this Mudra.

Everything is coming from the space. Because of the divine, we are doing something. You are doing the action for the divine, by the power of the divine and with the help of the divine. That attitude has to be ingrained in every part of the brain. For which, this mudra will be very helpful.

You are not the doer – understanding and believing it

How to understand and believe that you are not the doer?

It is not the question of understanding. How to believe we are not the doer, but divine is the doer?

Instructions to do the Mudra: On both the hands, keep the thumb at the base of the little finger (first image) and rest of the fingers covering the thumb (next image).

FAQ on Mudras

Student: What is the significance of putting the thumb with other fingers?

Thumb represents Prana – our life force. If there is no life in the body what is the use of the body? Similarly, if thumb is not used, no Mudra will be activated.

Prana means Universal Life energy.

Instructions on doing mudras

  1. Except for special Mudras, for all mudras, one had to keep the mudra on both the hands.
  2. You can chant mantra or switch words silently, while doing the mudra.
  3. You can walk, lie down, sit down or watching TV while doing the mudra.
  4. There is no time to do mudras. You can do it all the time. Of course, they are very effective when you do the mudras between 4-6 AM.
  5. In general, Mudra you can do for 30-45 minutes, Mantra can be done all the 24 hours.
  6. There are exceptions to that rule. Don’t do Linga mudra for more than 15 minutes at a time. However mudras like Chin Mudra and Acceptance mudra can be done throughout the day.
  7. All mudras are beneficial to us without any side-effects. However, for some it might produce an unwanted side-effect. In such a case, please stop doing it and contact Naran.
  8. You need not press the fingers hard when you touch the tip of the thumb or while placing them at the base of the thumb.  No pressure should be applied. Pressure means, your mind is restless and not stable.

Mudra for Savings Part I

Do the Vitality Mudra or Pran Mudra for savings. Thumb touching the little and ring fingers on both the hands.

If mind is in a solid container it will produce a sense of relaxation. Mind is here. Thought is no-where. The mind and thought are separated. The thinking is separated.  What else I can do? I can sleep. This Mudra can produce sleep also.

Other benefits of doing this mudra

Vitality, elimination, relaxation, rest, calmness, composure, affectionate, and motherliness.

Not to be shaken by other’s anger – when somebody else is shouting or is angry, be in this mudra which activates composure.

This mudra activates the life force – meeting point of Fire,  Earth and Water elements.

Blood flow is regulated. Blood clots are reduced and excreted, muscles are strengthened, immunity is improved and promotes good sleep.

When one is worried and restless, additionally keep the index and middle fingers at the base of the thumb, while the ring and little fingers are touching the tip of the thumb.

Love and Accept Yourself

First love yourself and accept yourself. For loving and accepting oneself deeply and totally VITAL ESSENCE MUDRA (Hara Mudra) is necessary.

If anybody remains single, the energy of this Mudra or the energy produced by the Mudra is lacking in that person. That means that childlike innocence is absent and this Mudra gives the childlike innocence.

Mudras can be combined with Mantras, which doubles the effect of Mudras.

Sam: If I do the Chin Mudra before eating for 10 minutes, and by chanting Vallabam Gajaananam Eka Thantham then I am able to pick the right food, the right quantity of food – not less or more and the food I like to eat (as I eat food from different hotels and thus eating the food I like becomes very important).

Raj: I chanted the switch words, “MOVE ON” with the Movement Mudra for 15 minutes and “FIND COUNT DIVINE Job” for 15 minutes, twice a day for the last 20 days. Now, I have got two small projects on hand, which will keep me busy for the next 3-4 months.

You can do for 15 minutes at a stretch and two times in a day. Do with both the hands.

When you want to assert yourself, or want to say no without hurting the other person, be in this Mudra and say whatever you want to say.

Is there a Mudra for cleansing the basic chakra?

Naran

Keep the index finger at the base of the thumb on both the hands.

This is the LETTING GO Mudra.

Keep for 10 minutes. It increases oxygen level.

Then be in SAFE and SECURE Mudra (ring and little fingers touching the tip of the thumb on both the hands) for 10 minutes. This Mudra is also called as Prana Mudra.

Help

If there are chronic health and financial problems will it be beneficial to do both the Mudras and chant the Bija mantras (OM LUM NAMAHA, OM VUM NAMAHA OM RUM NAMAHA OM YUM NAMAHA OM HUM NAMAHA)? If so, what should the duration for the Mudras be?

You can chant the mantras while doing the Mudras) so.

15 minutes per Mudra will be ok.

Explanation

Move ON and Have a Life for Yourself

My husband and I have been in the States for about 8 years, living in the same small town and doing the same job. We feel like stuck.

We would like to move out to another city to get more opportunities but it has been difficult to get a job. We just want a fresh start as well as job opportunities so that we can move out.

Be in the following Mudra for 30 minutes: Thumb touching the index finger (both hands) and the rest of the fingers at the base of the thumb.

Change Divine Order: to change the current life situation and find divine order

Mudra:

The index finger induces new thoughts. It will be from a higher perspective, which was created by placing the other three fingers at the base of thumb.

Now, your decisions will be de-avoid of internal resistance and they will not be based on past karma as well as previous karma vasanas.

I am so amazed at how quickly it works. While, working my way through very serious construction related traffic and with only a few minutes to catch a bus, I did the movement Mudra. The traffic which had been at a complete standstill, started to move in less than a min!

One of my relatives is a driver. He was driving a VIP, who is a director from one of the top software companies in India. The latter had to attend a meeting in Mumbai, without fail.

They were caught in a traffic, which wasn’t moving even an inch. The VIP told my relative to somehow beat the traffic and help him catch his flight.

My relative did the Movement Mudra while they were stuck in the traffic. He suddenly found a way, went through a long route not generally used by the public and reached the airport on time.

The director was so happy that he gave my relative a good tip.

Explanation

The Movement Mudra is done by touching both index and middle fingers with the tip of our thumb on both the hands.

Whenever you are stuck up in life, say there is no progress in a project or work, or as in the above cases in a traffic jam, movement Mudra helps.

While driving or doing some work, you can also chant the switch words “HALF-WAY DIVINE” to reduce the time taken to complete the task on hand. You can chant the switch words, while doing the Mudra too.

Sleep Well with Mudras

Why we couldn’t sleep well. The reason is that all our energy is focused on the head, especially about work, money and relationships. We keep thinking about something that has happened yesterday and today, and something that might happen tomorrow. Thus, more energy is focused on the head.

Chin Mudra

You touch the tip of the thumb with index finger. Unlike Chinmaya Mudra you keep the other three fingers straight. When you do Chin Mudra, extra energy in head is diverted to the root chakra (which is situated below your sexual organ) and then to the legs. You get grounded and therefore you sleep well.

Usually I do Savasana (corpse pose) before going to sleep, so as to unwind myself. Yesterday instead of keeping the palms on the side and keeping them open, as we do while performing Savasana, I did Chin Mudra. The amount of energy I felt had been tremendous, never felt before. Of course I slept well.

Vitality Mudra

Here you touch your thumb with little and ring fingers. This gives you physical strength – especially after you are tired from any activities that are physical in nature (newly married and aged people will find this Mudra very helpful).

Additionally, this Mudra puts you on a better financial situation then you are currently in.

Putting you in a better financial position – a case history

Kannan has never worked anywhere and had always been in business. He had never made enough money in his life and been always in debt and shortage of money. Kannan and his wife were asked to do this Vitality Mudra by Naran S Balakumar, for 45 minutes before going to sleep.

What they found out was:  They could sleep well which had been never the case before. Even though their financial position has not changed much yet (they had been practicing only for last few weeks), their financial situation has changed considerably. Somehow they found money from various sources to make up for things. Thus their life goes on a smooth sailing. I am sure they will get better off over a period of time.

Getting back your physical strength

Personally after playing cricket during the weekends I found this Mudra helpful to give me back physical strength required by me to carry on with other activities. Otherwise, two of hours of playing cricket take away all my strength to do anything meaningful, during the whole weekend.

Sleep Well

You may ask how you can sleep well with Vitality Mudra. When your financial worries are taken away, energy flows to your Hara chakra (located just below the navel) and Root chakra, and thus automatically energy in the head is reduced.
